Rain, Coffee, and Spotted Rubber Boots

So I went for a walk in the rain
Micah has not been in the "napping" mood so I decided to take him out in the rain for a little stroll. It's been raining all day. There were puddles everywhere, but I had my favorite spotted rubber boots and a handy plastic stroller cover.

Micah stayed warm and cozy in his astronaut looking contraption. The whole look was reminding me of ET. My feet stayed warm and dry and I was able to splash through every puddle I wanted to!!! I LOVE puddles and boots!!!

I was able to buy some coffee from a little shop on campus. Mmmmmm.....it was perfect. $1.75 with free refills all day (I stopped after two cups). I'm feeling very ALIVE right now :-).

So that's been my day. My husband will be home soon for dinner....a warm bowl of stew and some fresh baked rolls.

What a peaceful little Monday....

Sleeping?!

Aren't sleeping babies so precious? I can't help but smile when I sneak a peak of him fast asleep. Lately he has been scooting all around his crib. Why does he wait to practice his rolling when he should be fast asleep??? The last few days he has made me laugh with the odd ways he ends up in his crib. I thought you may enjoy a few pix.

Just now I was sitting on the couch eating lunch, Micah was supposed to be napping, when out of the bedroom I hear music. I poked my head in the door and there was Micah batting at his "Opa Ducky." He discovered how to make it sing?! I asked him, "Aren't you supposed to be sleeping?" and this is the face he gave me:

*Sigh* yes, the orange you see on his sheets are the carrots he had for lunch....won't someone please try to invent colorless baby food?!!!!

Well now that he has fallen asleep I must go wake him for his doctor's appointment. Hopefully he will fall back to sleep in the stroller on the way! Little boys....what more can I say?

Everyday Life

Most days I forget that not everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the "everyday" moments in the life of Micah. So I thought I'd post a couple pictures of him just smiling and playing with toys!

Micah loves his excersaucer! I usually drag it over by the window and he enjoys watching the cars, people, and horse and carriages go by (lots of them travel by all day long). We are living on the 5th floor this semester so we aren't nearly as high as before. This gives Micah a good view of the things and people below.

Here he is learning to sit up all by himself!

He has such a big smile! Makes you just want to squeeze him huh?!
He's not yet crawling, but he has started to swivel himself around.

The Oprah Show

The dismal, grey, and WET Monday afternoon did nothing to dampen mom and I's mood as we flagged down a yellow cab. I slid into the back seat and told the cabbie, "Harpo Studios at 1058 W. Washington please." Recognizing the name and address he replied, "You going to the Oprah show?"

YES!!!!! We were!!!! In a crazy last minute whim on Friday I was called up and offered two tickets to the very next Monday's taping of Oprah. The ladies sitting next to us, as we waited to enter the studio, had waited for two years to

get tickets! Mom and I were both excited to get a chance to experience a more close look at our cultures "Oprah craze." Everything from the security to get in the building, to the hundreds of lights and cameras in the studio, to Oprah being so down to earth, (casually talking about her size 11 shoes and uncomfortable, shimmery shirt prior to the filming), was fascinating.

So what did I learn from it all??? Well, one person can sure make a difference in this world (both positively and negatively)! I was also reminded that each and every one of us has unique, special, and even incredible stories to share.

If told, who knows how they may impact our world?!

-Day after Day-

It's late for me to be awake.....but alas my husband is caught up in yet another busy semester of papers, exams, more papers, another exam, and yet another paper.....and I'm determined to stay up with him until he calls it a night.

There really isn't much for me to do once this time of night rolls around. My work for the day is over, (well at least I'm too tired and sleepy to attempt any more!).

The laundry is basically done, (just one load on my bed to fold), the dishes are mostly washed (just a couple soaking pans from dinner remain). The rugs have been swept, the fridge re-organized.

The little boy has been fed, and changed, and fed again, and changed again, and.....

He's been cooed to and tickled, bathed and sang to.  He's tucked under his fuzzy blanket somewhere in dreamland.

*slow sigh*

It's quiet...it's calm....it's been a day well spent....

The morning will come again soon, and I'll get to do everything all over again.

It's okay because it's where I'm at in life right now. In some ways my life changes everyday. And in other ways it will remain the same...forever...

My task right now; to figure out the one thing in life that I don't want to miss, and then pursue it with all my heart....

Everyday...

Day after day....
